1:1 nutriton counseling is typically covered by insurance. If you are out of network or don't have insurance, private pay rates apply. Please contact us to discuss out-of-pocket payment options. If your insurance does not cover any or all of our appointment (such as in the case of unmet deductibles, uncovered services, inaccurate copays, denied claims, etc.), we will send you an invoice for the balance. It is your responsibility to pay this upon receipt.
We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Harvard Pilgrim, Tufts Health Plan, and United Health Care. If you are out of network or do not have insurance, we offer a private pay option for individual nutrition counseling services.
Your specific plan, even if it is with one of the above insurance companies, may or may not cover nutrition counseling. We will provide you with a script prior to the start of the first session which will guide you through a phone call to your insurance company to determine your exact nutrition counseling benefits. The responses you receive from your insurance company on this call are not a guarantee of coverage, however, obtaining a reference number for the call will allow us to challenge any denied claims should we receive them.
Initial visits are 60-minutes; follow-up visits are 30-60 minutes.
This service is perfect for anyone who has received a referral from their primary care doctor to receive medical nutrition therapy services in the treatment of a particular diagnosis (eating disorder, diabetes, hypertension, food allergies, etc.) OR for anyone who’s insurance plan does not require a referral and who may be seeking more support with food and nutrition.
In our first session we will review your current dietary intake, food aversions, pertinent medical history, weight and dieting history, exercise, recent lab work and discuss all current nutritional concerns. We will also discuss your relationship with food and body image and explore any barriers to health and wellness you may have experienced in the past. You will leave the first visit with short and long term goals established, recommendations for blood work if needed, referrals to other outpatient providers and possible homework for our next session. We will provide all of these recommendations to you in an organized folder for your safekeeping and may also send email links to outside resources to help support you between sessions.
We will get as many details from you before the appointment is booked to ensure we can schedule you with the dietitian who best meets your needs. Visits are scheduled on a first come, first served basis. We understand the urgency of your need to see a dietitian and strive to ensure all new clients are met as soon as possible.
