Functional Nutrition Testing
NourishRX works with SpectraCell Laboratories, a leading clinical laboratory specializing in personalized disease prevention and management solutions. Functional nutrition testing supports our goal of optimizing patient outcomes by facilitating the prevention and early detection/diagnosis of deficiencies, while helping to guide effective treatment options.
Most medications require adequate nutrient intake in order to work optimally. If you are taking medications and feel that they may not be working as intended, it may be due to a nutrient deficiency. Functional Nutrition Testing through SpectraCell allows us to identify and restore deficiencies and dysfunctions leading to optimal health outcomes.
Nutritional testing includes specific laboratory tests aimed to evaluate the health status of an individual by measuring how the physiology of the body is functioning, rather than simply looking at indications of disease, which many typical health practitioners focus on.
See FAQ’s below to learn more about the specific tests offered through our facility.
Intracellular micronutrient testing measures nutrients inside of your cells, where most are needed for optimal health. SpectraCell Micronutrient testing provides the most comprehensive nutritional analysis available by measuring functional deficiencies at the cellular level. It is an assessment of how well the body utilizes 33 vitamins, minerals, amino/fatty acids, antioxidants, and metabolites. Routine serum blood work (what your doctor may provide) does not assess intracellular deficiencies, and cannot provide us with an accurate picture of nutrient deficiencies. Assessing from an intracellular level, we are able to get a long term average of your nutrient levels allowing us to more accurately assess nutrient status and function. Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, Heart Disease, Diabetes and many other health conditions can be directly impacted by nutrient deficiencies. Understanding and treating the deficiency will allow for improved medication management and improvements in mood and hormone balance.
SpectraCell Hormone Testing offers comprehensive male and female hormone panels that reveal your overall state of hormonal balance. Like nutrients, hormones influence all aspects of health and disease - mood, sleep, metabolism, immunity, and heart health. An imbalance of one hormone can initiate a cascade of events that alters other hormones. A comprehensive look at hormone status is essential in understanding this.
Thyroid hormones directly regulate every cell in our body as most basic functions like metabolism, emotions and thinking. Great when paired with Micronutrient testing as nutritional deficiencies are often the root cause of thyroid dysfunction. Test also includes testing cortisol levels and proteins that may affect thyroid function as well as antibodies to thyroid which can detect autoimmunity (when immune system attacks healthy tissue.
CardioMetabolic testing offers a clinically relevant evaluation to help define risk for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD), progression toward Type 2 Diabetes, and inflammation. These check points help patients understand the factors contributing to the origin and progression toward cardiovascular disease including stroke, poor blood glucose control, diabetes, and/ or inflammation.
